Ablutophobia is the persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of bathing, washing, or cleaning. This phobia is a situational specific phobia. Ablutophobia is more common in children and women than in men, and especially with those people who are very emotional.
Etymology
From the Greek word ebliUt ablute, meaning “to wash”.
Symptoms
People suffering from ablutophobia experience dizziness, nausea, palpitations, breathlessness, excessive sweating, dry mouth, feeling sick, or shaking.
Other symptoms include inability to speak or think clearly, fear of dying, feeling indifference from reality or a full blown anxiety attack, if they think about bathing, washing and cleaning.
